"Where the Crawdads Sing"

We’ve started a new venture with all the staff here at Tall Boy Marketing. It’s our own little book club!

The Tall Boy Book Club selection from December was Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens. This book was Neil’s selection and our first fiction book thus far. Delia’s book has been on the New York Times Best Sellar list for the past couple years and did not disappoint.

Set in the coastal marsh of North Carolina, the book follows the main character, Kaya, as she is abandoned by her family at a young age. Beginning in the early 50s, we follow Kaya and her relationship with the marsh as she grows up with limited contact with the nearby small town of Barkley Cove. This book had its share of challenges that involve the coming of age for Kaya, relationships, a murder trial and coming to terms with her own family history. Everyone on the Tall Boy Team had a different part of this well-written book that appealed to them and we highly recommend it as your next read. The detail of how the story is told and the world around Kaya is played out before the reader and it is truly special.
